7 Ways To Turn Your Hobby Into Profit
||Find your sweet spot.
Your product should be something that is in between something you love to make and something that everyone wants. If you’re creating something no one will buy but you, well then you see what’s going to happen… So you need to do your research. Maybe you need to narrow down your market and target a certain group. Where is this group of lovely people hanging out? What do they want?
||Don’t be stuck up.
Connect with people! Don’t just hang out behind the screen and your worktable. Interact with your customers. Poke around other business. Show everyone you’re human and not some robot posting things online. Get out into the world and see what the demand is. Be social! They’re called social networks for a reason!
||Set up shop.
Now that you’re a social butterfly where can you invite your new friends and customers to hang out with you? Do you have an online shop on a website or a shop on Etsy? Are you showing off your stuff on Instagram? Pinterest?
||Manage your shop like a pro.
Don’t wing it. This is your business. Just because you work from home doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be running like any other CEO runs their company. Do you know where your business is financially? Are you keeping track of the day-to-day operations? Are you organized and responsible with your money and time?
You need to be showing up and doing something every day. If you’re audience is on Facebook then you need to be there at least once a day. Every day you should be doing something productive no matter what. You should always be one day better than the last in some way. Whether it’s creating more product, selling, or personal development.
||Build your audience.
Grow your list! This is extremely important. Social media plays a big role, but do you know what the biggest is? Email. Yup. Email. Building your email list is a great way to connect with your customers. They will look forward to hearing from you and seeing your beautiful work. They can miss your posts online, so you will be sure to not miss your email.
||Create a system.
Your day should be carefully planned out. Time is money. Your money. A plan of action will keep you focused and on track. Having a system will not only save you time, but will make you more money.
So, there you go. 7 ways. Where do you start? Does this overwhelm you? Or are you pretty good on some, but not so much on a few others?
That’s the problem with thousands of women who are running their home business. They kind of pick and choose how they want to grow. But then they get frustrated. Something’s not working. Something’s not right.
And then by the time they figure out what missing or what went wrong it’s too overwhelming and they slow down or give up. I don’t want that for you. So that’s why I’m here.
I am SO not crafty. I can barely draw a stick figure. The quilt I made in high school Home Economics with a friend was the last one chosen at the local nursing home because it just looked THAT good…not.
HOWEVER. What I can do is help you with every little step that I just went through.
Every little thing you need to do to grow your business, build your list, and just get even more awesome than you already are.
